Skunks
We love skunks. Few animals are as cute, or as stinky, as a skunk. If it wasn't for the whole "stinky butt spray" thing, no one would mind having them around.
Skunks live in family groups of 1-10 individuals. Family group territories may overlap to make it seem that there is one large population, but that is not usually the case.
Skunks are one of the few animals in North America that contract rabies, and can spread rabies, but they do not get sick from rabies. Often the babies are born with rabies transmitted to them by their mother before they are born. If you have skunks in your area (an most of us do) be sure to keep your pet's rabies vaccines current, and monitor their behavior when they go out at night. That is when skunks are most active and are likely to encounter your pet.
Predator Impact uses special traps that are kid and pet safe. All baits are food grade so that there is never a problem if a kid or pet finds the trap.
We only use tube type, or "spray proof" traps. these traps prevent the skunks from spraying. In addition, they reduce the stress on the skunk. We usually have to wake them up when we get to the release site.
All skunks are released alive and unharmed on our wildlife preserve in Nowata County near Oglesby.
We safely remove skunks without them spraying your property. After several years of relocating over 150 skunks, we have never had one spray.
