Armadillos

Nature's armored tanks

If it wasn't for the destructive digging, armadillos wouldn't be bad to have around.

Armadillos have very poor eyesight, but a fantastic sense of smell. It is this sense of smell that makes them a nuisance for many homeowners. Modern lawns are a perfect place for the grubs and worms that the armadillo feeds on to live and thrive. In trying to reach the grubs and worms, the armadillo digs up a small area of the lawn, then moves to the next place that he smells grubs. In one night, an lawn can look like it has been rototilled.
Armadillos should never be handled by non-professionals. The don't have teeth, but they do have very sharp powerful claws. In addition, they are the only animal other than humans capable of carrying Hanson's Disease (leprosy). It has been found many times in wild armadillos, but there is not a recorded case of transmission to humans.
Armadillos are notoriously difficult to trap. They do not come to a food bait like most animals. Predator Impact has specially made armadillo traps that are baited with a pheromone that attracts other armadillos.
